style file: defining my closet
The morning fashion struggle is real.
A typical morning goes a lot like this: I try on about 8 million outfits before deciding on the same jeans I wore the day before and an oversized t-shirt. Even after that decision has been made, I try on about 15 different pairs of shoes and 47 scarves and necklaces.
I will forever dislike the people who make it seem effortless. Fashion is hard. Fashion on a budget is even harder. Style File will let me share a little about my style with you and a little about where to get featured items. I'm excited to showcase my "personal" style.
I think my style is kind of like Elsie of A Beautiful Mess and James of Bleubird had a fashion-love-child. I'm drawn to strores like J.Crew, Anthropologie, and well curated small boutiques. In an ideal world, I'd dress solely from those shops. Realistically, I buy a lot of clothes off sale racks from those shops. For full priced clothing, I look to Old Navy, Forever 21, and all the other shops in the mall near my apartment.
Although I'm really into supporting small business and small boutiques, it's not always in the budget. In this post, I mentioned how I'm trying to change my wardrobe to simpler pieces, and it's true! As a belated New Years Resolution, I've been doing my best to stray away from crazy patterns and absurd colors in my core collection. Neutrals are my friend and colors are my accent.
