I like flannel shirts and I cannot lie.

About 70% of the year you'll find me trying to squeeze them into my ensemble. Of course in the New England summer I'd look foolish and die of heat stroke if I tried to wear one during the day. Luckily, I stumbled upon an oversized cotton button up covered in a flannel looking plaid at a vintage shop. Wee!

It's my summer go-to....Y'know, the shirt that I reach for after a night of drinking beers and struggling to get in my jeans. It's also the shirt that I like to wear when I'm feeling my best! Something about an oversized button-up feels so "Courtney".

Below can see two different ways to style this top from daytime to nighttime. I stuck with some staple pieces so it would easily translate to any cute oversized top that you may have in your closet. (Don't own one? Steal your dads, brothers, boyfriends...menswear on women is super in!)

    What I wore / Daytime:

Now, if you're wearing this top to go out, you have to really own the look. Most people don't envision a big 'ole top as bar wear, but I totally dig it. I tied it up and layered it over a pleated mini skirt. I added in some favorite heels and switched out my tote for a cross-body since after a few drinks I'd rather not worry about forgetting my bag. I also layered in a funky necklace to make the outfit more intentionally 90's rather than looking rushed. I'm so ready for the weekend...gimme a beer, already!

    What I wore / Nighttime:

      • Top - Vintage (see above)
      • Skirt - Forever 21 (find similar here)
      • Heeled Sandles - Old Navy
      • Bag - Rebecca Minkoff
      • Necklace - All Saints Spitalfields (you could totally DIY this one)

Hope you have fun stealing clothes from the men in your life! Don't tell them I sent you...SHH!
