Brandon and I are trying a new thing where we try to maintain a social life outside of work. This has been a difficult task for us! Once we're home from work, nothing sounds more exciting than making dinner, showering, and going to bed. On our days off, we catch ourselves just cleaning up our apartment and lounging around. It's a vicious circle!
The weekend before last, we were lucky enough to stay with some friends in NYC. Although the trip was short, we squished a ton of fun in there. You'll find some A+ pictures from our trip under "Read More". I met up with a friend from my old job, and she let my friend and I crash at her place in Astoria. It was my first time in Queens! The following night, I stayed with one of my best friends over in Brooklyn. Her apartment is the most perfectly put together collection of vintagey-tropical-shrine stuff. That may seem like a weird juxtaposition, but it's fantastic. All in all, it was a pretty fabulous trip and I need to get out there more.
The first photo in this post is probably the most important. I have a visual intern at Twelve Chairs! I posted about Carla here - she's my little helper. She's been assisting in our first ever seasonal display at the shop. For the Spring display, we tried working with a low-cost item that we already had: tissue paper. We created a wall and a half of tissue paper flowers with water color tips. They've been a hit at the shop! Customers have even asked to buy them. It's a cool feeling! We also created patterned pennants for the front windows of the shop as well. Big things are happening there!
This week, Brandon and I haven't really held ourselves to our social standards. I've been really trying to get the blog back up and running, and he's been finalizing his proposal for a few galleries (One of them is in Miami - ow ow!). We went over my cousin's condo to celebrate his birthday Saturday, but then I caught a stomach bug and I haven't been able to get rid of it yet. Here's to hoping today is warmer, brighter, and healthier.
