I was born and raised in New England but I haven't traveled around the area much as an adult outside of MA + RI. This past weekend, Brandon and I made a little trip out of my friend's baby shower and spent the weekend at The Hotel Portsmouth! It was the cutest little spot and it was walking distance to downtown!
Portsmouth was small but charming. We popped in all the little shops - though are favorites were easily Gus & Ruby Letterpress and Off Piste - ate all the food, and drank alllllll the drinks.
(more pics below!)
There are tons of little bars + restaurants by the water. Brandon and I ate at Poco's on our first night (which was probably the only night it was cool enough to eat outside!) and I enjoyed one too many margaritas. That led us to the hangover cure in the AM - The Friendly Toast.
We couldn't go to Portsmouth without a trip to the Portsmouth Brewery! I enjoyed a glass of their local cider while Brandon tried out their flight to see which brew he liked best. We were meeting friends for dinner, so we skipped their food - but the beer didn't disappoint! (Be sure to check out the bathroom while you're there. It's pretty cool. Weird, I know - but you won't be sad!)
We knew a lot of Portsmouth would be a little too coastal and sea-shelly for our taste, so staying somewhere I could draw inspiration from was super important. I loved each space of The Hotel Portsmouth and Brandon and I actually ended up spending more time than we planned at the hotel. It was amazing to sit in the air conditioning, visit their library, explore their common areas, and enjoy a good nap....as boring as that may sound. It was absolutely lovely!
The study was moody, eclectic, and just about my favorite space ever. That old nautical art is the bees knees. When we visit Portsmouth again, we'll definitely still choose to stay here. I mean - the charm is unreal and it was the perfect place to unwind for the weekend. Just what we needed... xo
