My style is kind of like a high-school art teacher found a super hip vintage store and decided to try and "make things work" that probably shouldn't. Ever. I described it more in depth in my very first "style file" post here. What I'm trying to say is, I'm either a fashion genius ahead of my time or the most unfashionable person you may ever know. I haven't quite decided yet.
I should also note something else: I hate award shows. I don't watch a lot of TV or movies, so I rarely know who these people are. With that being said, I'm probably the first person online the day following said shows to see every last outfit on the red carpet. The Golden Globes were no different.
So, what is this post you may ask? It's a fashion review for an award show I didn't watch by a person who may or may not understand fashion. You're welcome!
Number one look of the night in my opinion! Emma Stone killed it in this Lanvin jumpsuit. It's chic, edgy, formal, and fun. A+, Ms. Stone.
Kristen Wiig received a lot of mixed reviews on this vintage dress, but I'm in love with it! The off the shoulder look and blousey top would've been a little too boho if it wasn't fitted at the waist. I love the fabric, the draped train, and the fact that she looks like she is on her way to the VIP section of coachella and lost her flower crown on the way (all good things in my book). She can do no wrong.
Tina Fey brought the beautiful Ellie Kemper as her guest, and I'm pretty sure she stole the show in her Naeem Khan gown. Although Ellie said it weighed five hundred pounds, she looked effortlessly stunning in this ensemble. I'm obsessed with the high neck, beaded detail, sleeves, and open back. It's like, my absolute dream dress on my absolute dream body. Seriously - give me those skinny arms for my wedding.
Let's just start by stating the obvious - Chrissy Teigen's dress is amazing, but her arm candy is swoon-worthy too. Her Zuhair Murad sleeved gown may have outshone Mr. John Legend, but he was a close runner up. I'm still ogling the detail on this beautiful dress. With its perfectly sexy cutouts, its immaculate fit, and beautiful color, it was a "must share".
This Valentino dress is the epitome of all things "Courtney". The color, the pattern, the feathers... come on! Claire Danes stole my heart in this gown. The detail is absolutely worth zooming in to see. This look is a total show stopper if you ask me!
I haven't followed trends nearly as much as I did while studying fashion in school, but that doesn't mean I don't still have an opinion on current fashion. There were plenty of honorable mentions at the golden globes including Kelly Osbourne's fitted cape dress, Sienna Miller's Miu Miu gown, and Lana Del Ray's green mermaid shift. (Totally kidding about LDR. That dress was awful.)
What were some of your favorite looks of the night? What was your least favorite?
