There's nothing like a little girl time. I spent this past weekend frolicking around Brooklyn and Manhattan with three of my best friends. I was having so much fun that I forgot to photograph it all! We went to a house party, sang karaoke, shopped, drank bottles of wine, indulged in cake, and had endless late-night conversations. It was the perfect mix of events.
I have to share a few favorite spots from our weekend adventure! We ate a clam pizza at Lombardi's in Manhattan, split giant slices of cake at Little Cupcake Bakeshop nearby, and zipped over to the pricy (but delicious) Oficina Latina for margaritas. Uhm - YUM! The last of our food-cation was at Dough - my absolute favoooorite donut place.
My friend Emily (apt shown above) has lived in Brooklyn for a bit now, so she had a few hidden gems to share. One of them was a fantastically trashy karaoke bar in Korea-Town called Gagopa. It's a BYOB spot where you rent your own private karaoke room and belt your song choices to your heart's content. This is totally out of character for my friends and I, but OMG - it was so much fun! We all sounded better than the originals, though that may be the wine talking.
Today I'm feeling a little full, exhausted, and sore from all the walking but I am so happy we were able to squeeze so much into our short time in the city! We even made it over to the Brooklyn Flea Market. Can you believe it was my first time there? I grabbed a set of 5 lucite drawer pulls for a vintage cabinet I have for only $40! It took all of my self control to not buy everything else. I highly recommend visiting that on your next trip to NYC.
One of the things I re-learn every time I'm in the city is how overwhelming it is! I fall for the pretty lights, never-ending events, and delicious food each time I visit....but by the time my bus comes, I'm so ready to go home and sleep. Le-yawnnnnnnnn.
