Pull out your flannels, call up Lisa Frank, ask Clarissa to explain it all if you don't understand these references because this fresh prince has a full house and no time to break it down, but she's noticed that the 90'S ARE BACK. If you haven't realized that the grunge scene has become prominent in the fashion industry, then you haven't left your house in the past year. From combat boots to denim vest - the trend is taking over cities and making it difficult to distinguish between the homeless and the fashionable. I dug up some products that mix the 90's with 2013 in a humorous way .... and they're all under $50!
(P.S.Click on the photos to take you to the product!)
This Urban Outfitters Journal not only screamed "Diary", but also brought me back to the days of tie-dying in my backyard. I can picture putting a few Lisa Frank stickers on it, scribbling about my daily crushes on the inside, writing my name all over it, and quickly throwing it away when the "dream" boy called me a mean name. For only $24, it might be a nice notebook for work notes, and it seems like a good size to throw in your bag to keep track of day to day issues.
Remember bad 90's floral? Similar to the print two photos above? (Just picture an Easter dress from 1993 if you're not imagining it.) Well - Vera Bradley released this really pretty floral throw which -in addition to this post- help show how prominent floral patterns are now too! Nothing will ever be as tacky as the 90s print though. Nothing.
This past Christmas, I opened up one of these phones. They attach to the headphone jack of your cell phone, and make your conversation just as muffled as it was on your phone back in the day. The phone that I'm sure you begged your parents for after watching the Tanner girls get their own phone line on Full House. Urban Outfitters offers these "pop-phones" for $35, and they come in different color options. Although they're a little harder to hear from, they do make a hands-free conversation much more comfortable.
A little known fact about me? I love Roseanne. I love that TV Land has a Roseanne marathon every Sunday, I love that I've seen every episode on Netflix, I love that I can quote episodes that I turn on half-way through the show... I love it all. These pencils are it. They're everything. Made by Brooklyn, NY brand "Greenwich Letterpress" and priced at only $8, they're a perfect gift! Oh - and my birthday is at the end of July.
Ignoring the booty shorts and odd jewelry, this Forever 21 top is great. Although this American Flag trend wasn't the hottest style during my childhood, this shirt's cut screams 1995. Just imagine the light washed, ill-fitting "mom jeans", a scrunchie, and some all white New Balance sneakers to complete the look. Today, pairing it with some high-waisted (+ longer) shorts and some Keds would give it a casual, current look.
