Let's take a minute to talk about the LBJ - the "little black jacket" of course. I am officially deeming this Fall's staple piece. The LBJ goes with literally anything from tutus to distressed denim and it makes every outfit 100% more on trend. Finding the perfect LBJ can be just as difficult as finding the perfect LBD. It's a style that I'm so ready to try out but it really does feel like a commitment. A leather jacket says, "look at me. I know fashion" and that's cool and all, but there are so many details to take into account when it comes to choosing the one. Let's begin with style, shall we? Leather jackets can be drapey, oversized, fitted, pebbled, smooth, collared, zippered, etc.etc. My favorite style is the motorcycle jacket. It feels badass and chic all at the same time. Below I've shared 3 amazing LBJ that I'm obsessed with in 3 different price points.
My top choice is this little pretty by Saint Laurent from Barney's. It's my favorite leather jacket - really. Not too embellished, not too cropped, not too pebbled. Everything about it is perfect....except the price. This little baby is $5,500. Just a bit out of my 24 year old/college paying/H&M wearing lifestyle. Since I couldn't even pretend to make this one work, I continued my search using this as inspiration.
That's when I stumbled upon this great leather jacket from Madewell. I missed the texture in the leather and the extra zippers on the side when comparing it to the Saint Laurent. The design in this jacket is timeless and I'm always a sucker for Madewell. This jacket goes for $528 and even comes in a pretty wine color - swoon! Unfortunately, I wasn't in love with the black jacket and couldn't fathom spending half a thousand dollars before I've really decided to commit to this style, so I continued my never-ending search for the perfect LBJ.
I think we can all admit that this jacket from Urban Outfitters is a close match to the Saint Laurent jacket in style! I absolutely love it. This version is vegan leather, so the longevity of the piece probably isn't there....but at $159 I don't think I could complain. It's the perfect style to try out before investing in a pricier LBJ. I'm excited to invite this jacket into my fall wardrobe and rethink my dresses and sweaters in an edgier way.
