And so it begins. Packing to move to a new state, a new apartment, a new year. It may not be the calendar's new year, but September 1 has marked a new "year" in my life since I've moved to Boston. It marks the start of a new lease. I've always had new roommates, new furniture, new friends, new hangout spots beginning on that day. The nights leading up to it are stressful and exciting. This year, things are a bit different as Brandon and I plan to move into a place that we'd like to settle in for multiple years. We're moving to Rhode Island, though I'll still be working in Boston. It will be our first time living with no roommates (with the exception of Olive-Nugget) and after 6 years, I think we deserve it. We've worked so hard to get where we are - mind you, we're poor as anything and luckily have parents who bail us out when our accounts hit the negatives - but I'm proud of us and excited to start our real life together.
Tomorrow marks a new year for me as well - I'll be turning 22. It's the first birthday that doesn't quite feel like a birthday to me. Normally I'm already celebrating. I typically have plans from the minute I wake up until I fall asleep, and I probably wouldn't be sleeping the night before. To celebrate tomorrow, I'm grabbing some dinner with Miss Brittany, and probably drink a margarita or four, but it's still weird to me that I don't have the whole day planned out.
I'm excited, nervous, scared, sad...emotional to say the least about the move. As for my birthday? I'm getting old - oof!
When was the last time you checked out our shop? We've added a few new pieces and some of your favorites may have sold! Just click the "shop" tab at the top of the page and let us know what you think!
This weekend is Brittany's boyfriends birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANNER!) so I decided to post a photo of my parent's pup, Jojo, so she can continue celebrating. Look at that silly yorkie face!
15 Days from today, I turn 22 years old. I'm on the verge of feeling super old, and still so much younger than 22. I feel all adult-like because of my full-time job, apartment in the city, serious relationship, and my own pet, but then again I still pick up every cat accessory, I can't keep my room clean, and my cooking skills may be below sub-par. I figured I might as well share part of my wish-list in today's Five Under Fifty. I'd have to say it's a pretty good depiction of me!
I had a mini photo sesh today as I tried to take a decent photo for blog publicity. Silly? Maybe. But I had fun!
Oliver is staying with Brandon's parents until we move. The poor little guy gets pretty car sick, so we didn't want to be taking him to and from Boston a lot. Here he is, contemplating life and reminiscing on his last year in the Boston place.
Brandon and I were approved for a FABULOUS apartment in Providence. I'll still be working in Boston and just changing up my commute a bit. I attached the floor plan so that you ogle at it with us! It has giant 8 foot windows, mill-style living, and comes with stainless steel appliances. Oh, and in the building there is a movie theatre, pool, hot-tub, and gym that we can use. We'll be living in luxury!
Since we'll finally be living in a place that we're proud of, we've been looking into semi-permanent additions to add. One of them is a single pendant light to put over our dining table. We want something industrial and round to center over the table.
Option number one was this guy. An Original BTC Titan Pendant. We couldn't decide between black or white, but after we saw the price tag we decided neither. They range from $469-499 at Design Within Reach which sincerely isn't absurd....just a little out of our price range during the move. We knew this was the style we wanted sooooo we continued our search.
CB2 is definitely typically more modern than industrial, but I think this pendant is a good option. It's called the "Capitol Pendant Lamp" and it's only $299. What makes it a little different from the Original BTC Lamp is that it can only come in black. You have one option for your color and that is it. Another difference is the slight bell shape to it. I absolutely love how it's matte black though - I feel like it's such a versatile piece.
Option number 3 is from Ikea - the Hektar Pendant Lamp. They tried...they really did. I wish I could explain what bothered me so much about this light, but I can't. There's just something about it that I hate. I think it's the wide mouth at the top? Or maybe just how tall it is....Ugh. I don't know. I tried to love it because it's only $30, but I don't love it. Oddly enough, while searching for something so industrial and similar to the Titan, we stumbled upon this. Although it's more modern than we thought we wanted, I think it will look awesome over our table. We have the dining table pictured here. What do you think?
Oh, and here's our floor plan! Although it's a narrow space, I think the addition of the walk in closet should make everything juuuust a bit more manageable.
We love it! So excited to share our setup and budget finds and fix ups.
