A refreshing new series here on the blog, Friday's Favorites! Every so often I'll share a few of my favorite things with you. This week, I'm sharing a favorite quick DIY project, a favorite recipe, a favorite Instagram account, and more! Woo woooo!
This DIY serving tray by Sugar and Cloth is too good. I am absolutely obsessed with it! Not to mention, the whole thing will only cost you like, $4 each and take you all of 2 minutes to complete! I've already ordered all my supplies and I cannot wait to whip up some of these adorable pieces!
There are few Instagrammers out there who have both a beautiful feed and a sense of humor. Jen Gotch has an abundance of both! She's the boss lady at Ban.do (which, btw you MUST check out) and in addition to creating a super successful business, she also fostered kitties and killed it in the kitty-insta-department. That's totally a thing - I'm sure of it. Check it out for yourself at @jengotch.
I'm a cake lover. (cake lover - kāk lōver- n. one who loves to look at and eat cake) When I stumbled upon this recipe on Bleubird blog a while back, I knew I had to try it. I've made it twice since then and it's hit the spot each time! It stays moist on the inside and leaves you with a super chocolately delicious (and gluten free) dessert. A total win in my book.
How'd you do that? How do you even...what? I am obsessed with the hairstyle on the right from Carissa Lynne Designs fashion show for Style Week. It's like a braid/bun hybrid. How freakin' cool? Also, she's a local designer who has some pretty fabulous dresses...including the two sneak-peeks shown here. I saw this on her Insta-feed and freaked a little. You can find out more about her background here. (hair + makeup by Salon B)
This is a random one, but this is my favorite thing I've seen on Pinterest all week! Like, who comes up with this shit? Kristi Murphy - that's who. She gives you a full run-down of the DIY here. It's genius! I wish I had thought to host a party for the Oscars! But, since I missed talking fashion at the Grammy's this month, I'm all for posting about pretty Oscar ball gowns next week.
Hope you have something super fun planned for the weekend that involves staying warm! Doing my best to stay calm about the possibility of another snowfall this weekend. UGH! xoxo Courtney
Last Friday I hosted my second crafting event, Galentines! The night went hand in hand with a surprise goodbye party for my friend, Sarah. She was supposed to leave this morning for Mississippi (see details here), but the snow postponed her trip. I'm extremely thankful for an extra 72 hours with this girl...even in a winter wonderland! Galentine's was a night full of DIYs, friends, drinks, and learning experiences. I'm excited to share photos and details from an evening with the ladies!
Each guest had their place set with gold dipped flatware, colorful napkins, a personal box of stickers, and all the tools needed to make their take-home craft. The menu consisted of a DIY shirley temple bar (full with beers/sangria/lemon water for those without a sweet tooth), lots of appetizers, a full pasta station, and an ice cream bar. The biggest lesson I learned is that I will not be doing a full meal at every event. Nope! Apps and snacks all the way. By the time we were ready to dig into the meal the pasta was cold, the sauces were no longer warm, the garlic bread was no longer heated to perfection, and we all were sooooo not hungry enough to eat a full plate of pasta. So I'll be leaving the full 3 course meal event to Friendsgiving alone! Additionally, I crafted adorable gem cocktail stirrers, painted gold lips on wine glasses (using this tutorial from sugar & cloth), put together skewer arrows for donut holes, and made a fantastic gluten free cake.
