Last Friday, Brandon got an e-mail from a Brooklyn gallery saying that the space would be open on Sunday and that Brandon should stop by and meet the owner. I immediately bought two train tickets into the city for the weekend and begged my friend to let us couch-surf with her(even though I had been there less than a week before). It all worked out, and we made it into the city late on Saturday night. It was so exciting to be visiting for a somewhat business related note, even if it wasn't my business adventure. B was able to meet with the gallery owner, "art talk", and at the very least put a face to his e-mails. Networking is key in this day and age. It's all about who you know.
Since we had all of Sunday to wander around, we were able to hit up the Brooklyn Flea (because I wanted to show it off to Brandon as if I were a pro), grab pizza in SOHO, visit a few different galleries, window shop our way downtown, and meet my friend Channa for a drink at The Ace Hotel before catching the train back to Providence. It was great to spend the day in its entirety with Brandon too. He's always his happiest in the city!
NYC is totally inspiring but also absolutely intimidating. I'm always on the verge of being like, "Fuck it. Let's move there." until my wallet starts crying and a crazy person spits on my shoe or something. If I were to make it rich, I'd move to the cutest spot in Chelsea and forget all my problems. Until then, my eyes are set on moving back to Providence and positioning myself somewhere in the middle of Boston and NYC. xoCourtney
